Les Misérables
JoyfulDazzled
Unfamiliar with the story. Hadn't read the book, nor film, nor listened to the music before — and came out emotionally wrung out in the best way. An absolute rollercoaster. It's long, it's sprawling, there's a lot happening, and that's like the point. The sheer ambition of cramming so much story into a matinee is its own kind of miracle. Left me genuinely in awe of what the musical as a format can pull off. I fuckin' love the theatre.
